In this bright, modern building, 20 assisted living units have been created on two floors (twelve single rooms and eight double rooms, all with balconies). Leisure and care facilities are also provided. The first floor houses a psycho-geriatric center for 24 people, as well as the Mamer branch of the Hëllef Doheem Foundation.

Mayor Luc Feller, aldermen Roger Negri and Ed Buchette, alderwoman Francine Closener and members of the local council represented the municipality at the inauguration.

In his speech, the mayor retraced the building’s history. Its walls had been the venue for a number of festivities and balls. But first and foremost, it was a meeting place for local residents, right in the center of Mamer,” emphasized Luc Feller, adding that the reallocation was aimed precisely at preserving this role. That’s why it was decided to install a village hall and a brasserie in the Wëllebau. He wished the building’s operator every success. In addition, it was important that the design of the protected building should reflect its historic use. The people behind the project have succeeded in doing just that,” emphasized Luc Feller.

During the evening, guests were given a close-up view of the renovated premises. Three clarinettists from the Harmonie Gemeng Mamer provided musical accompaniment to the friendly reception.

At the Mimmelsratt orchard in Mamer, the national “Yellow Ribbon – Here you can pick” campaign was launched by Martine Hansen, in her capacity as Minister of Agriculture and Food, alongside Mayor Luc Feller, Alderman Roger Negri and Alderwoman Francine Closener.

This initiative was created 5 years ago to concretely fight food waste and promote the value of local fruit. The commune of Mamer is taking part for the second time.

A yellow ribbon on a fruit tree means that picking for personal use is authorized and encouraged.

As it’s important to raise awareness of food waste among the younger generation, children from the Maisons Relais in Mamer and Capellen helped tie yellow ribbons to fruit trees.

In addition to the 71 participating municipalities in 2025, private individuals can also make their trees available.

Elise Meisch wins the Commission de l’Inclusion Sociale drawing competition

Elise Meisch wins the Commission de l’Inclusion Sociale drawing competition

In the run-up to the big Inclusion Festival in November, the Social Inclusion Commission organized a drawing competition for cycle 2 pupils at the fundamental schools in Mamer and Capellen.

Children were invited to draw their own vision of inclusion. The winning drawing will be used to illustrate the festival’s promotional brochure. Over 40 drawings were submitted, all unique, creative and imaginative.

Picking a winner proved to be a real headache for the jury. The members of the Commission de l’Inclusion Sociale (Social Inclusion Commission) didn’t have an easy time of it, even if a clear majority finally came down in favor of the drawing by Elise Meisch, a student from cycle 2.1 in Mamer.

Accompanied by her family, the young artist went to the Mamer Schlass to receive her first prize from Mayor Luc Feller, Aldermen Roger Negri and Ed Buchette, and the President of the commission, Nadine Reinesch: tickets for Phantasialand for the whole family.

All the children’s drawings will be exhibited at the Inclusion Festival on November 14, 2025, at Kinneksbond School.

As part of the Mamer in Motion project, the Maison des jeunes Mamer-Garnich, with the support of the municipality and the Maison Citoyenne, organized a lively charity day in Brill Park.

Conceived and led by the youngsters, the event aimed to support the NGO Trauerwee through a Charity Run: each 1 km lap covered between 4pm and 7pm generated a donation of 2 euros. Mayor Luc Feller and Aldermen Roger Negri, Ed Buchette, and Alderwoman Francine Closener were also present to support the commitment of the organizers.

Starting at 2 pm, graffiti artist Charel invited the public to take part in a collective work of art, while DJs Jamey & Outlaws kept things lively. Circus workshops, facepainting and a creative wall completed the program.

The VC Mamer took care of the catering, and a prize-rich tombola rounded off a day of solidarity and committed youth.

“Alles op Vëlo” as popular as ever

The popularity of the “Alles op Vëlo” event was confirmed at its 2nd edition, organized by the communes of Mamer, Kopstal and Mersch. As in previous years, the CR101 between Mamer and Mersch, with stages in Kopstal and Schoenfels, was closed to motorized traffic all day.

Many families, as well as senior citizens, enjoyed the cycling and walking routes, as well as the varied program of food and entertainment at the various stop-off points.

This edition also marked the launch of the “Vëlossummer”, in the presence of Minister Delegate for Tourism Eric Thill. In Mamer, start and finish were located near the water treatment plant.

Catering was provided by local associations BBC Mambra, FC Mamer 32, VC Mamer and Trispeed.

New this year: the “Bach on Bike” initiative of the Association Bach Luxembourg with touring concerts, including a stop at the historic Roman baths, with the support of the Commission des Affaires Culturelles de Mamer.

Tony Hoffmann celebrates his 90th birthday at HPPA

HPPA resident Tony Hoffmann celebrated his 90th birthday. Alongside his family, the facility’s management and Alderman Ed Buchette extended their warmest congratulations.

Antoine, known as Tony Hoffmann, was born in Arsdorf in 1935. He began training as a carpenter, but had to change direction at an early age following an accident at work. At the Wiltz clinic, he discovered his vocation as a nurse.

Over the years, he worked at the Clinique Saint-Joseph in Luxembourg City, at the MMRA steelworks in Rodange and, until his retirement in 1994, in the oncology department of the Clinique Ste. Zithe in Luxembourg City.

Tony Hoffmann was married to Mrs Henriette Rosseljong, who died in 2019. From this union three children were born, who later enlarged the family with five grandchildren.

Mr Hoffmann has always been a passionate beekeeper.

Three years ago, he moved to HPPA for health reasons, where he feels very well and regularly looks forward to visits from his family.

End-of-year school fête in Capellen

End-of-year school fête in Capellen

In Capellen, schoolchildren from Capellen and Holzem celebrated the end of the school year with their teachers, friends and families, one day before the official start of the summer vacations.

Due to construction work on the campus, the school festival was not held on the school site for the first time, but was moved to the park.

Mayor Luc Feller, accompanied by Aldermen Roger Negri and Ed Buchette and members of the local council, was also on hand to share this festive moment with the many children, their parents, teaching staff and members of the APECH parents’ association and Maison Relais – the organizers of the event.

Students from the various cycles enthralled young and old alike with their dance performances. Large bouncy castles were set up, temporary tattoos were offered, and everyone could order delicious grilled meats. As every year, the candy stand with its popcorn and candy skewers was a great success.

Children had fun on the playground while adults enjoyed a drink together to mark the end of the 2024/2025 school year.

Now it’s time for the big vacations!

Elton and the Joels set Brill Park alight

Elton and the Joels set Brill Park alight

On the second evening of the Festival am Brill, Elton and the Joels set the park alight with a musical fireworks display, covering the greatest hits of Elton John and Billy Joel. Hundreds of spectators – including Mayor Luc Feller, Aldermen Roger Negri and Ed Buchette and members of the town council – were carried away by the atmosphere.

From Crocodile Rock to Piano Man, I’m Still Standing and Uptown Girl, the hits just kept on coming. Charisma, energy and complicity with the audience revived the magic of these two legends.

The musical association of the “Rocket Man” and the “Piano Man” was not insignificant: in the 1990s, Elton John and Billy Joel shared the stage several times on joint tours. Together, they sold over 450 million records.

Talentshow success confirmed

Talentshow success confirmed

Twenty singers, musicians, dancers – young and old – and a little actress and her dog took to the stage in Brill Park for the sixth edition of the talent contest of the Commission for Family and Third Age.

After lengthy preparation, they all summoned up their courage to perform in front of an audience and a panel of judges. Divided into three age categories, the candidates delivered quality performances, making the choice of three winners per category a difficult one.

Since last year, an additional incentive has been added: the “Golden Ticket”, awarded to the best musical act, offering a place on the new talent stage at the Fête de la Musique 2026 in Mamer.

Mayor Luc Feller and several members of the local council were on hand to applaud the participants, who were surrounded by family and friends.

The Hämelmaous duo, featuring Romain Thielen and Tascha, brought the afternoon to a musical close.
