In collaboration with the UGDA, the Mamer local authority organizes annual courses in music, instrumental and choral training.

– Registration
Registration forms for music lessons will be distributed at the end of May/beginning of June and are published on our website in PDF format and on www.ugda.lu..
– General remarks
Attendance of music lessons up to 4th year (lower division certificate) is compulsory to continue instrumental and vocal training.
An adult is any person who has reached the age of majority on 1 September during the school year in question.
Registration fees are non-refundable.
– Registration fees
Invoices will be sent to those concerned during the 1st term by their respective local authority.
Pupils wishing to join a musical association (brass band or wind band) in one of the participating towns have the option of renting an instrument from this association, subject of course to the company’s instrument stocks. Please contact the person in charge of the society concerned.

– Procedure for requesting a change of course location for a student
The student’s place of residence is the place of the course (except for regional courses).
To change the location of a course to another commune in the Regionalschoul, a written request must be sent to the UGDA School of Music (ecole@ugda.lu) by June the 15th at the latest.
Management will consult with the municipalities and managers concerned and will reach a decision by mutual agreement on the basis of the reasons and the places available, at the end of July and by the beginning of September at the latest.
Courses start in September.
Admission conditions
Group lessons
- Éveil musical:
in 2nd year of cycle 1 (5 years old on 31.08.),
or 1st year of cycle 2. - Musical training:
must be 7 years old on 31.08.
2nd year of cycle 2. - Adult musical training:
1st and 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year adults = from age 15. - Collective vocal practice (choral singing for children and young people):
from age 7 on 08.31. to age 13. Concurrently follow the musical training curriculum. - Instrumental group practice:
from the 2nd year of instrumental studies or on the recommendation of the lecturer. (Over 4 years) - Instrumental group practice (chamber music):
Must have obtained the 1st cycle diploma for the instrument. A chamber music group must consist of between three and eight musicians (except for 4-hand piano).
At regional level:
- Theater courses for children:
from age 7 to 13. - Basic stage course (over two years):
Compulsory course for diction students. (90 min/week)
Instruments/singing
- Wind and percussion instruments:
Concurrently follow a musical training course starting with musical training 1 and leading up to the lower-division certificate (FM4). Priority will be given to former students, taking into account the date of enrolment and the number of places available. - Drumset:
Must have obtained a 1st cycle diploma in percussion or passed an admission test and have a drumset at home.
At regional level:
- Piano / Guitar:
Successful completion of the 1st year of musical training up to the award of the lower-division certificate (FM4): It is compulsory to have a player piano / guitar at home. - Violin / Viola / Cello:
Successful completion of the 1st year of musical training up to the award of the lower-division certificate (FM4). - Electric guitar / bass guitar:
Must have successfully completed the 4th year of musical training (lower-division certificate) and have an electric guitar / bass guitar available. - Organ/Keyboard:
1st cycle piano diploma required. - Classical singing:
Minimum age 15 – at least one year of musical training. Concurrent musical training. - Modern singing:
For young people aged 15 to 30. Must have completed at least the 4th year of musical training (lower division certificate). Previous training in classical singing, instrumental training (1st cycle diploma) or choral training may be an advantage. - Luxembourgish diction:
from age 14. Follow the basic stage course at the same time. - Adults:
All conditions also apply to adults.
