On Sunday, for the closing day of the Fête de la Musique in Mamer, the main stage at Place de l’Indépendance once again drew a large crowd. Brass band music, folk, rock, blues, soul, and funk took the stage one after another in a festive atmosphere from the first concert to the last. Mayor Luc Feller and Alderman Ed Buchette also enjoyed this day of music.

Musek Keespelt/Meespelt and Harmonie Victoria Téiteng kicked off the program before handing the baton to Thunder Road, Fernanda Stange, Superdrive, Mad Fox, and, for the grand finale, Fred Barreto & the Syndicate feat. Maxime Bender. Brazilian-Luxembourgish musician Fred Barreto and saxophonist Maxime Bender blended different musical styles in a performance that was as original as it was impressive.

A summer evening filled with emotion and great music drew a large crowd to Independence Square in Mamer.

With “Remembering Roger,” Roger Cicero’s former bandmates, accompanied by Lutz Krajenski and Atrin Madani, brought the world of the German singer—who passed away in 2016—back to life. Big band, swing, soul, and groove blended together to treat the audience to an intense and heartwarming concert.

On the eve of National Day, the festivities took place in Mamer in a friendly atmosphere. However, due to the extreme heat, the parade had to be canceled, and the participants gathered directly at the church for the Te Deum.

In his speech beneath the Skyliner, Mayor Luc Feller noted that National Day is a symbol of unity and diversity. He also emphasized that this was the first National Day during the reign of the new Grand Duke Guillaume, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the country’s history.

Three municipal employees were honored for their long-standing commitment to serving the municipality. Christian Jemming received the Vermeil Medal of the Oak Crown, while Tom Plune and Laurent Hansen were named Knights of the Oak Crown. As is tradition, members of the Harmonie Gemeng Mamer were also honored, and the mayor paid tribute to the deserving firefighters of CISMA.

As part of the Fête de la Musique, music was also in the spotlight at the CIPA (Integrated Center for the Elderly) in Mamer. There, people sang, danced, and enjoyed a wonderful time together.

Sandy Botsch and Änder Hirt kept the music playing and the spirits high all afternoon. Many seniors had made the trip to the CIPA community center. They participated enthusiastically and sang along in unison to the songs that were played. The dance floor wasn’t empty either. To recharge their energy, everyone enjoyed a cup of coffee along with some delicious pastries.

In addition to the Independence Stage, a second stage hosted concerts during the Fête de la Musique in Mamer. Named the Mameranus Stage, it was set up at the entrance to Independence Square. The primary purpose of this stage was to offer young artists an opportunity to perform in front of an audience.

On the final day of Music Festival 2026, four bands and musicians wowed the audience: G-Raf, winner of the 2025 talent contest at Parc Brill, Don Piano, The Mallows, and Pilot Light.

Each concert drew a large crowd, and the atmosphere was as cheerful as the weather. The audience sang along and danced enthusiastically all day long.

Mayor Luc Feller kicked off the 2026 Music Festival weekend alongside Aldermen Roger Negri, Ed Buchette, and Alderwoman Francine Closener. He invited the public to take part in the many events being held in the town over the coming weeks.

As is tradition, third-grade students from the elementary schools in Mamer and Capellen kicked off the event alongside some of their teachers as part of the UGDA music project. Their enthusiasm quickly won over the audience. Krick then captivated the audience with his modern pop infused with R&B, soul, and jazz influences. Daniel Balthasar, returning to the stage after a long absence, alternated between new songs and older tracks in his unique blend of indie pop and rock.

Another new feature this year: a second stage set up in the Wëllebau community hall, where the jazz groups 5 LIVE and The Sanborn Project drew a large crowd.

The Fête de la Musique continues on Saturday and Sunday.

Nuit du Sport was a great success in Mamer, with 842 active participants, including 489 children and young people.

Great joy for dogs and their owners at Brill Park: the new dog park, the winning project of the first edition of the 2024-2025 participatory budget, is now in operation.

Mayor Luc Feller, aldermen Roger Negri and Ed Buchette, alderwoman Francine Closener and members of the local council officially inaugurated the new facility. Dogs Meilo and Maggie were the first to test the new space.

The creation of this dog park illustrates the active involvement of local residents in the participatory budget. In the first edition, this project received the highest number of votes.

Following the success of the 2024-2025 participatory budget, a second edition will be launched on June 1, 2026. New citizen projects can then be submitted.

The European Festival held on May 9 in Mamer’s Place de l’Indépendance was dedicated to intercultural living and diversity. Numerous locals and visitors of different nationalities, including Finance Minister Gilles Roth, gathered to celebrate Europe Day in a convivial atmosphere. This year’s event focused on France.

For Mayor Luc Feller, accompanied by Alderman Ed Buchette and Alderwoman Francine Closener, the day reflected the identity of the commune of Mamer: an open and dynamic commune, where different cultures, languages and traditions enrich community life.

The program, featuring concerts, entertainment, stalls and culinary specialities, was a great success with the public throughout the day.

The Cultural Affairs Committee organized a wonderful three-day bus trip to Stuttgart, Germany. Participants had the opportunity to visit the Porsche Museum . A visit to the Staatsgalerie art museum was also on the program, and generated a great deal of enthusiasm.

The highlight, however, was the musical “We Will Rock You”featuring all the greatest hits of the famous musical group, presented at the Apollo Stage Theater, which literally had the audience jumping out of their seats.

The latest Babbelcafé attracted a large number of participants to the Mamer Schlass. The concept of linguistic tables, organized by the Maison Citoyenne, aroused keen interest and was very well received. The members of the Commission for Intercultural Living Together led the discussions and ensured that everyone took part.

Francine Closener, President of the commission, opened the evening, which was dedicated to living together and discovering new languages.

Luxembourgish was a particular success, with many participants taking the opportunity to practice the language and find out how to learn it in everyday life.

In the third decisive match of the final against GYM Volleythe ladies of VC Mamer were unable to defend the title they won last year. In three sets (22:25; 17:25; 20:25), the team from the capital won.

The match was played out both on the pitch and in the stands, where fans from both teams supported their players with fervor.

In the end, the result was indisputable. Congratulations to the GYM Volley team, who this year achieved the championship-cup double.

The second match of the final, played in a “best of three” format, was won by the team from the capital after an intense five-set duel. The players from Mamer had made a fine comeback from 0:2 to 2:2 before narrowly losing the tie-break (25:16, 25:21, 26:28, 22:25, 15:10) , despite the unfailing support of their supporters, including Mayor Luc Feller, Alderman Roger Negri and Alderwoman Francine Closener.

The spring opening of the Mamer market on Place de l’Indépendance in Mamer was once again a great success. In glorious weather, many people found their way to the church square to inaugurate the market and do their shopping. The Holzem Keeleclub provided food and drink. .

Aldermen Roger Negri and Ed Buchette, alderwoman Francine Closener and members of the local council took part in the springtime opening of the Mamer market.

In his speech, Roger Negri expressed his delight at the market’s success, which is an unmissable fixture on the first and third Friday of every month in Mamer. He also emphasized that the market is a popular meeting place for local residents. For his part, Jeff Bourg, President of the Fédération luxembourgeoise des marchés, stressed the importance of local markets.

Musical entertainment was provided by the Magic Jazzband.

The latest edition of the Smart Café, organized by the Commission of Family and Third Age in collaboration with the Maison des jeunes Mamer-Garnich and the Golden Me association, was once again a great success.

Once again, many people came to Château de Mamer to have their cell phones, tablets and laptops explained to them by experts. In addition to the Golden Me representatives, young people from the Henri Trauffler youth center also helped the seniors.

In any case, the initiative was welcomed by the visitors. Everyone went home satisfied. The aim of the Smart Café is to bring the digital world closer to people aged 55 and over.

In the run-up to Easter, the Commission de la Famille et du Troisième Âge organized its traditional cooking class at the Maison des Associations in Holzem. Alongside chef Laurent Baudouin, participants discovered ideas for preparing a festive menu.

The program included a starter of asparagus, smoked salmon and a soft-boiled egg, and a main course of lamb noisette with polenta, green beans and walnuts.

In a convivial atmosphere, participants shared a moment of exchange and tasting. In Luxembourg, Easter remains a time rich in tradition, marked in particular by meals with family and friends.

The Commission des Affaires Culturelles offered a very special evening with the investigative dinner “Ein mörderisches Erbe” in Holzem. Plunged into the Scotland of 1928, guests, including alderwoman Francine Closener, soon found themselves at the heart of a criminal intrigue surrounding the mysterious death of a lord.

As the evening progressed, the audience, often dressed in 1920s style, became actively involved, observing, questioning and cross-checking clues to identify the culprit, some even taking part in the re-enactment of the crime.

Suspense was maintained between the different courses right up to the final revelation. A successful interactive cultural experience, combining gastronomy and theater with originality.

The Mamer parents’ association, APEM, organized an Easter egg hunt at the Precoce and Preschool on the Kinneksbond campus.

Accompanied by Mayor Luc Feller and the President of the School Commission, Nadine Schmid, APEM members welcomed a very special guest: the Easter Bunny himself.

After the egg hunt, the children were treated to a bunny-shaped cupcake and had the opportunity to take photos with their visitor. APEM president Julia Fortes Lima thanked the commune for its support.

The Kinneksbond cultural center was a hive of activity as students from the UGDA music school in the West region received their diplomas and certificates. A total of 14 diplomas and 88 certificates were presented to the students by the regional music school management, Mayor Luc Feller and Aldermen Roger Negri and Ed Buchette.

But it wasn’t just the official presentation: music was also on the program. Various classes showed an enthusiastic audience what they had learned. Families and friends, who had come to accompany the musicians to the Kinneksbond, warmly applauded the auditions, including those of a children’s choir, an orchestra and a marching band.

In his speech, Mayor Luc Feller, who was accompanied by aldermen and members of the local council, gave a brief historical overview of theclose collaboration between the UGDA and the Commune of Mamer. The school’s success can be seen in its 1,100 enrolments and 600 pupils. Music must be accessible to all,” emphasized the mayor, who praised the commitment of everyone involved.

Music school director Micky Thein explained that making music is also a school of life. She also insisted that artificial intelligence could never replace the practice of music.

Over 300 residents and members of local associations took part in the spring clean-up of the commune, organized by the Commission for Energy Transition, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development. Among them was Finance Minister and former Mayor Gilles Roth. Despite the cold, wet weather, participants collected garbage along roadsides, forest paths and country lanes.

The morning began in the Nic Frantz sports hall with FairTrade coffee and croissants. Equipment was provided by the commune and the children used small wooden tongs to collect the garbage. Over 500 kilos of garbage were collected. At noon, an aperitif and hot soups were served.
