At the Mamer Schlass, the Foundation for the Promotion of Young Artists in Luxembourg awarded this year’s Prix Mameranus 2024 to writer Chris Lauer.
The prize, worth €5,000, has been awarded to promising young artists in Luxembourg since 1990. Chris Lauer, born in 1995, was awarded the prize for her collection of poems ‘Gut verräumte Sternschnuppen’.
In her laudatio, Germaine Goetzinger, a member of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, spoke of the pictorial nature of the lyrical language in Chris Lauer’s work, which is characterised by its originality and strength of conviction. The author then read excerpts from her book, and was delighted by the applause from the audience.
The prize was presented by members of the Foundation, Alfons Schmid and Germaine Goetzinger, together with the Alderman responsible for culture, Ed Buchette.
The evening’s musical entertainment was provided by the young cellist Matis Grisó.
