The Amicale des pompiers held its traditional family party to thank the members of CIS Mamer and their families for their commitment.
This year, within this framework, was also celebrated the 50ᵉ anniversary of the youth section of the firefighters of the commune of Mamer. It was founded in 1975 in Mamer. In 1999, when the Holzem and Mamer fire departments merged, the youngsters were also grouped together. Since 2011, they have always been accompanied by their mascot (Flammi Flämmchen) and, in 2013, they received their own flag. In 50 years, over 200 children and teenagers have signed up, almost half of whom have gone on to active service. Over the years, more than 8,400 young people have taken part in over 1,600 activities.
The president of the Amicale, Marc Mergen, and the deputy head of the young firefighters, Monica Dos Santos, gave explanations about the section.
The mayor Luc Feller, accompanied by alderman Roger Negri and members of the local council, stressed the importance of the next generation of firefighters, praised the dynamism and commitment of the Mamer fire brigade, thanked all participants for their work and wished them every success for the future.
Marc Mergen and youth leader Maxime Mirto were honored by the national youth committee for their merits.
