The Stiftung zur Förderung junger Künstler in Luxemburg presented this year’s Prix Mameranus to Alexandrie Chrétien aka Axipixi, a representative of the ninth art (comics), in the Salle des Fêtes at Château de Mamer. The prize has been awarded to promising young artists since 1990.
Around 70 guests attended the ceremony, including Mayor Luc Feller, Alderman Ed Buchette, Alderwoman Francine Closener and several members of the local council.
Guests were welcomed by foundation president Fernand Weides. Claude Kremer from the National Literature Center then invited the audience on a journey through time and the world of the ninth art. The evening also saw the screening of three short films made by students at the Lycée des Arts et Métiers. The eulogy was delivered by Fernand Weides. In his speech, Luc Feller emphasized the importance of art and wished the artist every success for the future. Together with the Foundation’s Honorary Chairman, Alfons Schmid, he presented the prize to the young artist. Finally, Alexandrie Chrétien offered the public a glimpse of her work.
