Goody bags for all well-behaved children

The Kinneksbond Cultural Center was a hive of activity as children awaited St. Nicholas and the bogeyman. Arriving from the “heavenly country” by train at Mamer station, they were warmly welcomed. Due to unstable weather conditions, the procession was cancelled and everyone was taken by bus to the cultural center.

St. Nicholas and his companion were greeted by mayor Luc Feller, alderman Ed Buchette, members of the town council and representatives of the Syndicat d’initiative et du tourisme, organizers of the event, while the Gemeng Mamer brass band provided the musical welcome.

In the main hall, children waited with their parents. The large UGDA children’s choir sang traditional carols. From his golden throne, the “Kleeschen” handed out well-stocked bags, while the gloomy but calm Père Fouettard kept his rods in his sack.
