This year’s Festival de l’Europe festivities focused on Croatia, welcoming a.o. the Croatian ambassador to Luxembourg and Belgium, Josip Paro. Finance Minister Gilles Roth was also present.
In his speech, Mayor Luc Feller, accompanied by Adermen Roger Negri, Ed Buchette and Alderwoman Francine Closener, recalled the importance of Europe Day, celebrated every May 9 to commemorate the Schuman Declaration of 1950, the starting point of European integration. Luc Feller insisted on the fact that in Mamer, this European idea is lived out on a daily basis by a community made up of many nationalities, united by common values of solidarity and openness.
Around the Mamer Schlass, visitors could discover stands, foodtrucks, entertainment and enjoy a pleasant concert by the Harmonie de la Commune de Mamer. Alongside workshops dedicated to Croatia, the stands of the Commissions for Social Inclusion, Intercultural Living Together and Equal Opportunities also attracted attention, reinforcing the message of unity and social cohesion.
La Maison Citoyenne took advantage of the occasion to present the “ReciPeace” cookbook, a collection of international recipes testifying to the sharing and meeting of cultures.
