SICA is focusing on reusing usable parts

As part of a new SICA pilot project, carried out in collaboration with Ecotrel, the Repair Café, and the Ministry of the Environment, Climate, and Biodiversity, small electrical appliances that are still partially functional or have only minor defects can now be dropped off separately at SICA.

The appliances are neither repaired nor returned to their owners. They are taken apart by Repair Café volunteers to salvage spare parts that are still usable. These parts can then be used in Repair Cafés across the country to repair other appliances.

The project thus gives a second life to components that are still functional and prevents them from ending up directly in electronic waste.
Small electrical appliances without batteries are accepted. Refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, and lawn mowers, in particular, are not included.

Participation is voluntary. Electrical waste can still be dropped off as usual at SICA.
