National “Yellow Ribbon” campaign launched at Mimmelsratt orchard

At the Mimmelsratt orchard in Mamer, the national “Yellow Ribbon – Here you can pick” campaign was launched by Martine Hansen, in her capacity as Minister of Agriculture and Food, alongside Mayor Luc Feller, Alderman Roger Negri and Alderwoman Francine Closener.

This initiative was created 5 years ago to concretely fight food waste and promote the value of local fruit. The commune of Mamer is taking part for the second time.

A yellow ribbon on a fruit tree means that picking for personal use is authorized and encouraged.

As it’s important to raise awareness of food waste among the younger generation, children from the Maisons Relais in Mamer and Capellen helped tie yellow ribbons to fruit trees.

In addition to the 71 participating municipalities in 2025, private individuals can also make their trees available.
