At the CIPA in Mamer, the 100th birthday of Ms. Marguerite Mousel-Basting was celebrated in style. Family Minister Max Hahn, Mayor Luc Feller, and Alderman Roger Negri were also present to warmly congratulate the honoree.
This energetic mother of one son can look back on a long and eventful life. She is originally from Fentange and was the third of six children. A trained seamstress, she had to overcome several hardships throughout her life, including the deaths of two of her sisters, her mother-in-law, and her husband, whom she married in 1951. But her life has also been filled with many happy moments, such as the birth of her granddaughter in 1981. Her grandmother spent a lot of time with her and thus also had a little help in the garden.
Mrs. Mousel-Basting worked hard her whole life, whether at home, in the garden, or on her neighbor’s farm. She also did a lot of sewing and mending clothes for her family and acquaintances.
Her passions are, above all, flowers, gardening, and, of course, clothes. Her outfit must always be impeccable.
A few years ago, on her doctor’s recommendation, she joined the CIPA in Mamer, where she feels right at home. Always elegant, she does practically everything on her own, is always in a good mood, and takes an interest in everything. You certainly wouldn’t guess she’s 100 years old.
