Kapoutty

From Poutty Stein, gliding out of the pan.

Since 2019, the duo of Serge Tonnar and Georges Urwald has been interpreting Luxembourgish classics in a radically new way. Songs that are often still familiar to the ear are presented here in a refreshing new light. Serge’s narrative-driven interpretation and Georges’s piano sounds, which fit together like a glove, thus place the lyrics and the stories at the center of the performance.

No. 19. Century, with their program “Aus der Heemecht,” they’ve now released their new album, KAPOUTTY: songs by Poutty Stein, the father of the Luxembourgish chanson, as you’ve never heard them before. In addition to classics like “Déi Schnëss” and “De schéine Poli,” you’ll also get to hear some lesser-known—but no less stirring—songs.

In addition to the program’s highlights, there were also a few classics and lesser-known works by the great master, Dicks, which turned the evening into a unique recital of the Luxembourgish song repertoire.
