Drought: Increased Vigilance in Forests

The prolonged hot and dry weather currently affecting Luxembourg has significantly increased the risk of forest fires.

These conditions also weaken trees, which may pose hazards that are not always visible, such as falling branches, even when they appear to be healthy.

The municipality urges walkers and everyone taking part in activities in the forest to exercise the utmost caution in order to protect these natural areas and ensure everyone’s safety.

The following precautions are recommended:

  • Do not light fires in or near forests during periods of drought.
  • Exercise extra caution when walking or taking part in activities in the forest, especially after storms or prolonged dry periods.
  • Choose open areas away from trees for breaks or gatherings.
  • Stay on marked paths and trails.

By following these recommendations, everyone can help reduce the risk of forest fires and accidents while contributing to the long-term protection of forest areas.
