The new music school at the entrance to the Kinneksbond site was officially opened in the presence of Education Minister Claude Meisch.
At the ceremony, the Minister reiterated the importance of every child’s right to education, and stressed that music education was an essential part of this.
Mayor Luc Feller, accompanied by Aldermen Roger Negri, Ed Buchette and Alderwoman Francine Closener, praised the innovative role played by the municipality of Mamer, which, in collaboration with the UGDA, has launched a number of pilot projects in music education in recent years.
Micky Thein, director of the UGDA music school, spoke in particular about the ‘Music at Basic School’ project, illustrating the joint commitment to promoting musical training from the earliest age.
Today, more than 600 pupils attend classes in this new building, which adjoins the Kinneksbond cultural centre – and the trend is upwards.
