Discussion evening on mental health

The Equal Opportunities Commission organised a discussion evening on the mental health of children, young people and parents at the Mamer Schlass.

The chair of the committee, Vanessa Tarantini, highlighted the importance of giving mental health the same attention as physical health. Mayor Luc Feller spoke of the major challenges facing young people today. A highlight of the evening was the testimony of a young woman who shared her struggle with mental health problems since childhood.

Next, Dr Jean-François Vervier, a child psychiatrist at the CHL, and Fabrice Mousel, President of Anasig and a social worker, gave an insight into their day-to-day professional lives and the difficulties encountered by families with one or more members suffering from mental health problems.

To round off the evening, the Mayor and Alderman Francine Closener presented diplomas to participants in a mental health first aid course organised by the Social Inclusion Commission.
