The solar cadastre, also known as a solar map or solar inventory, is a tool used to map and assess the solar potential of a given region. This is generally a geospatial database that identifies buildings for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems.

The information contained in a solar cadastre includes:

  • Suitability for photovoltaics
  • The electrical efficiency of the roof surface for photovoltaics in kWh7year
  • The maximum size of the installable system in kWp
  • The useful surface area of the roof for photovoltaics in m2
