In <strong>4 to 5 years<\/strong>&#8216; time, the Kehlen industrial estate will be home to the <strong>first collection and recycling centre in Luxembourg<\/strong> to comply fully with the <strong>directives of the new waste law<\/strong>.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the presence of representatives from the <strong>7 member municipalities<\/strong>, Luc Feller, in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Directors, explained that in the medium term, the SICA site will have <strong>much more to offer than just a recycling centre<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Il est notamment pr\u00e9vu d&#8217;y installer un<strong> atelier de r\u00e9paration<\/strong> pour remettre en \u00e9tat les appareils d\u00e9fectueux. Et une <strong>salle de formation p\u00e9dagogique<\/strong> sera am\u00e9nag\u00e9e pour accueillir les classes et faire un travail de sensibilisation.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>In 2023<\/strong>, a total of almost <strong>20,000 tonnes of waste and recyclable materials were recovered by SICA<\/strong> through collections and the recycling centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to those in charge, it is also thanks to the <strong>good information and awareness-raising work<\/strong> carried out in the member municipalities that the <strong>amount of residual waste per inhabitant<\/strong> (124.75 kilos) is well <strong>below the national average<\/strong> of 160 kilos per inhabitant. <br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Customers of the recycling centre<\/strong> will have to be <strong>patient for a transitional period<\/strong>, as the number of parking spaces is limited due to the construction work. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Construction of SICA&#8217;s new resource centre has officially begun with the groundbreaking ceremony.
