The Commission for Family and Third Age<\/strong> organised a family excursion to the Mus\u00e9e de l’Ardoise<\/strong> in Martelange. <\/span><\/p>\n The programme included a tour of the mines 42 metres underground<\/strong> and the surrounding area. <\/span><\/p>\n Visitors were able to get an idea of how slate was extracted and the difficult working conditions<\/strong> of days gone by. To reach the Johanna mine, visitors had to be in good physical condition<\/strong> to climb the 370 steps<\/strong>. <\/span>During a workshop, participants were able to cut out and then engrave<\/strong> their own slate<\/strong>, which was particularly appreciated by the children. <\/span><\/p>\n Lunch<\/strong> was served in a restaurant in Martelange, where there was plenty to talk about after all the impressions made<\/strong> in and around the old quarry.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Commission for Family and Third Age organised a family excursion to the Mus\u00e9e de l’Ardoise in Martelange.
