The Nature Pact: the municipality of Mamer commits to action:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

The Nature Pact is an agreement that the municipality of Mamer has entered into with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the economic interest group Klima-Agence, and it has been actively participating in it ever since. The contract, signed on 10 December 2021 by the municipality of Mamer, will run until 31 December 2030.<\/p>\n

Like the Climate Pact, the Nature Pact is an instrument designed to promote municipal initiatives aimed at preserving and restoring biodiversity.<\/p>\n

Municipalities are important partners for the state in the field of nature and natural resource protection. Through their political decisions, they can make a significant contribution to improving the biodiversity situation and providing ecosystem services.<\/p>\n

Indeed, municipalities account for around 13% of the national territory where biodiversity measures have been or could be implemented.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Basic principle of the Nature Pact:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

The Nature Pact offers municipalities that wish to actively combat biodiversity loss the opportunity to apply for state support.<\/p>\n

By signing up, local authorities commit to implementing the measures set out in the Nature Pact catalogue. The catalogue includes nature conservation measures in the following areas: \u201cEstablishment and implementation of a comprehensive strategy\u201d, \u201cUrban environment\u201d, \u201cOpen landscape\u201d, \u201cAquatic environment\u201d, \u201cForest environment\u201d and \u201cCommunication and cooperation\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Commitment and certification of municipalities:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

The Nature Pact also provides for a certification system similar to that of the Climate Pact, with four performance levels: \u2018basic certification\u2019 (40%), \u2018bronze\u2019 (50%), \u201csilver\u201d (60%) and \u2018gold\u2019 (70%)<\/b>.<\/p>\n

In order to determine whether a municipality is eligible for \u2018Nature Pact\u2019<\/b> certification and to calculate the amount of the subsidy, the municipality’s performance level in relation to the measures implemented is assessed according to the catalogue of measures.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Nature Team:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

The Nature Pact team is led by a Nature Pact advisor who meets regularly to advise municipal authorities on the implementation of the Nature Pact.<\/p>\n
