It is likely that a building already existed on the site at this time. <strong>In 1796<\/strong>, the French Republic declared all property belonging to religious communities to be state property, including the ruined Ch\u00e2teau de Mamer. <\/p>\n<p><strong>In 1798<\/strong>, the estate was <strong>put up for auction and divided into four lots<\/strong>, the ch\u00e2teau being acquired by Thierry de Bastogne. <strong>In 1830<\/strong>, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Fran\u00e7ois, then district commissioner, <strong>rebuilt the ch\u00e2teau in its present form<\/strong> and enclosed the entire estate with a 2-meter wall. He also created a 25-acre pond at the &#8220;Brill&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>The ch\u00e2teau then passed to <strong>Georges Ulveling, member of parliament for the canton of Capellen in 1919<\/strong>, before being acquired <strong>in 1934 by Jacques Fischer and Julie Kremer<\/strong> for farming.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In 1995, the municipality of Mamer bought the castle and decided unanimously at its meeting on June 4, 1997 to restore the &#8220;Mamer Schlass&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Restoration work<\/strong> began in September 1999 and was <strong>completed at the end of February 2002<\/strong>, restoring the ch\u00e2teau to its former splendor and transforming it into a modern administrative center.<\/p>\n<p>We invite you to come and <strong>discover this<\/strong> emblematic <strong>site<\/strong>, a <strong>symbol of<\/strong> our town&#8217;s <strong>heritage and history<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Twinning with Dang\u00e9 St. Romain Romain (F) <\/span><br \/><\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Since 1976, the<strong> commune of Dang\u00e9-St-Romain, in the Vienne region of France,<\/strong> has been twinned with the commune of Mamer. The twinning charter was signed in Mamer on May 23, 1976, and in Dang\u00e9-St-Romain on July 14, 1976. <\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Discovering Dang\u00e9-St-Romain<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<p>Dang\u00e9-St-Romain is a <strong>charming French village of 3,300 inhabitants<\/strong>, nestled on the borders of the Touraine and Poitou regions.
